I wrote and recorded UNIVERSE: TIME in the span of three months, while living in someone’s basement. (Yep. True story.)
It came from a lifetime of loving and playing music... and months of major upheaval in my own life. I was ready to tell the strange story of humanity’s twisted relationship with Time, and I was ready to let my own relationship with Time unfold through the arc of every track.
The vastness of Time bridges the tracks together, from childhood growing pains (Past), to the ticking clock that can drive us mad (Insomnia), to losing sight of Time in favor of love (Relativity), to reflecting on Time’s ability to both heal and wound (Soil of Scars). This is an album that I was able to literally pour an entire life’s worth of excitement and struggle into, with abandon.
I hope you recognize a piece of your own story in my lyrical ramblings on this strange concept we all find ourselves endlessly defined by.
